What is an Expert System

Expert System is a special computer software capable of carrying out analysis with reasoning in narrowly defined domain at proficiency levels of an expert (Mckinion and Lemon, 1985). This system can manipulate knowledge to solve problems on adefined topic, efficiently and effectively.

Objectives:

• A Knowledge-based system was developed at DRR using an expert system program to help farmers to face pest and disease problems of rice.
• Enchance the performance of farmers and agricultural extension personnel
• Reduce the time required to solve the problem related to pests without waiting for expert advice
• Make farming more efficientnt and profitable
